Luna Fawn
As archetypes come to me and i explore their existing mythology -combining, subverting, weaving it- they inevitably come in groups for a new series of drawings. I tend to find they balance and compliment each other - speaking to the disparate corners of myself - my rage & tenderness, my fury & love, a scream & a whisper…Among them is always a figure that doesnt really directly reference an existing mythological figure, rather a personification of the quiet, tender, navel gazing, dreamscape wandering side of me that these archetypes come to. This is her - my Luna Fawn. She is intangible, soft, beautiful, head in the swirling clouds, toe touching the inky depths of her dark, watery soul - she moves deftly through the world, as a deer silently traversing the woods. You may glimpse her if you look to the moon, nestled in a bed of her own hair, surrounded by moonflowers, cradled by La Luna herself, but you can never hold her. She exists in the Liminal, shes a whisper on the wind, a fleeting shadow in the swirling water…
Shes all the parts of me i feel i need to protect and hide the most from the hard angles of the world, she is the best of me, shes my Luna Fawn.
9×12” print of original artwork by Kita (that’s me!) Printed (on thick, beautifully textured watercolor paper) and packed (in a biodegradable cellulose sleeve) by me, in my very own tiny Chicago studio surrounded by Iranian folklore, cats, plants & art alchemy. Story card about the art included.
